This paper examined workplace balance policies and their impact on women bank employees’
productivity in Nigeria and South Africa. The paper was based on the increasing participation of women
in the banking sector and the persistent challenge of balancing work responsibilities with family and social
obligations. The doctrinal research method was employed through the analysis of labour laws, workplace
policies, journal articles, and institutional reports in both countries. The paper identified major challenges
such as long working hours, inadequate maternity leave, limited flexible work arrangements, overtime
culture, and workplace discrimination, which negatively affected women’s productivity and career
advancement. The findings revealed that effective workplace balance policies, including flexible working
hours, parental leave, remote work options, and childcare support, improved job satisfaction and
productivity among women employees. The paper concluded that workplace balance policies significantly
influenced productivity and recommended stronger legal enforcement, organizational policy reforms, and
gender-sensitive workplace practices.
